Personal Support Worker
Serving AWZ33 & AWZ37
We provide primary health care through a range of options including prevention, assessment,
diagnosis, and treatment. Our interprofessional teams include health professionals, educators
and support workers representing both traditional Indigenous and contemporary models of care
and using wholistic health and community development concepts.
This position provides personal support services to home care clients, under the clinical
supervision of a Home Care Nurse. Functional supervision will be the designated WNHAC
Interprofessional Team Manager.
NOTE: Indigenous traditional practices involve cultural ceremonies and burning sacred
medicines including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar within the work setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current certification as a Personal Support Worker;
- Experience working in an Indigenous organization and ability to understand and speak
Anishinaabemowin a definite asset; - Demonstrated ability to work independently and be an effective team member;
- Willingness and ability to travel;
- Valid drivers’ license and own vehicle required; copy of current drivers’ abstract required;
- Current criminal/vulnerable persons records check required;
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development relevant to job requirements;
- Proof of immunization in compliance with policy requirements is mandatory prior to start of
employment; - Positive attitude and capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model
- Certain duties of the position are physically demanding
