Our team includes health professionals, educators and support workers representing<br \/>\nboth traditional Indigenous and contemporary models of care, and uses wholistic health and<br \/>\ncommunity development concepts.<br \/>\nThe position works within an interprofessional team comprised of registered and non-registered<br \/>\nhealthcare professionals, both directly and under the facilitation of medical directives, to meet the<br \/>\nhome care needs of individual clients at the community level. This position provides primary health<br \/>\ncare services in the client\u2019s home environment in specified communities within the professional scope<br \/>\nof practice established by the College of Nurses of Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>This position is part of the Ontario Nurses Association Bargaining unit.<br \/>\n<strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Indigenous traditional practices involve cultural ceremonies and burning sacred medicines<br \/>\nincluding tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar within the work setting.<br \/>\n<strong>QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario;<\/li>\n<li>willingness to work to a full scope including performing delegated acts through medical directives;<\/li>\n<li>deep understanding and experience of Indigenous culture, values, and perspectives as well as<br \/>\ntraditional and contemporary health care practices, and wholistic health and wellbeing;<\/li>\n<li>ability to speak and understand Anishinaabemowin a definite asset;<\/li>\n<li>knowledge of historical trauma and the impacts of that history on the health of people, families, and<br \/>\ncommunities;<\/li>\n<li>experience working in an Indigenous organization; understanding and\/or willingness to learn of<br \/>\nIndigenous culture and values;<\/li>\n<li>proof of immunization in compliance with policy requirements is mandatory;<\/li>\n<li>valid drivers\u2019 license, own vehicle, willingness and ability to travel required;<\/li>\n<li>criminal records check and current drivers\u2019 abstract required;<\/li>\n<li>commitment to ongoing training and professional development relevant to job requirements; and<\/li>\n<li>positive attitude and capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION DEADLINE:<\/strong> Open until filled<br \/>\nPlease send resume with covering letter and three references, to:<br \/>\nHome Care Nurse<br \/>\n<strong>Email:<\/strong> hrteam@wnhac.org<br \/>\n<strong>Website:<\/strong> WNHAC.org<br \/>\n<strong>Fax: <\/strong>(807) 467-8341<br \/>\n<strong>Phone:<\/strong> (888) MYWNHAC<\/p>\n<p><em>We thank all applicants for their interest in this position; however, please note only those <\/em><br \/>\n<em>selected for an interview will be contacted.
