Our teams include health professionals, educators, and support workers representing<br \/>\nboth traditional Anishinaabe and contemporary models of care, and use wholistic health and<br \/>\ncommunity development concepts.<br \/>\nThe purpose of the position is to facilitate traditional knowledge exchange, understanding, and<br \/>\nutilization between WNHAC leadership, service providers, and consulting elders and healers. This<br \/>\nposition promotes awareness of, and access to traditional health care options for interested clients,<br \/>\nand assists the organization in its ongoing efforts to balance traditional and contemporary services that<br \/>\naddress the whole person.<br \/>\n<strong>NOTE<\/strong>: Anishinaabe traditional practices involve cultural ceremonies and burning sacred medicines<br \/>\nincluding tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar within the work setting.<br \/>\n<strong>QUALIFICATIONS: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0post-secondary education in a health-related or human services field, and\/or equivalent combination<br \/>\nof education and work experience;<\/li>\n<li>excellent understanding of local Anishinaabe traditional cultural practices, specific to health and<br \/>\nwellness with knowledge acquired through direct networking relationships with local elders and<br \/>\nhealers;<\/li>\n<li>excellent interpersonal as well as oral and written communication abilities;<\/li>\n<li>ability to speak and understand Anishinaabemowin to communicate effectively with traditional<br \/>\npeople and client groups, and to interpret accurately;<\/li>\n<li>excellent communication skills (both written and oral), and ability to relate effectively to a broad<br \/>\nrange of individuals including clients, traditional people, and medical professionals;<\/li>\n<li>good organizational, planning and presentation skills;<\/li>\n<li>deep understanding and experience of Indigenous culture, values, and perspectives as well as<br \/>\ntraditional and contemporary health care practices, and wholistic health and wellbeing;<\/li>\n<li>experience working in an Indigenous organization; understanding and\/or willingness to learn of<br \/>\nIndigenous culture and values;<\/li>\n<li>proof of immunization in compliance with policy requirements is mandatory;<\/li>\n<li>valid drivers\u2019 license, own vehicle and willingness and ability to travel required;<\/li>\n<li>criminal records check and current drivers\u2019 abstract required;<\/li>\n<li>commitment to ongoing training and professional development relevant to job requirements; and<\/li>\n<li>positive attitude and capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Salary<\/strong>: $60,293 &#8211; $82,155 with excellent benefits, including HOOPP pension plan.
