Kenora, ON, January 9, 2025 \u2013 Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe’iyewigamig (WNHAC) is pleased to announce Ontario Minister of Health, the Honourable Sylvia Jones, has awarded $28M in Capital Funds for the construction of a new home for WNHAC in Kenora.<\/h3>

Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe\u2019iyewigamig is thrilled to see this project come to fruition after many years of planning and perseverance. Construction of the new building on the corner of First and Chipman Street is set to begin in the Spring of 2025. The Centre is part of WNHAC\u2019s commitment to fostering culturally grounded health and wellness. Once completed, it will offer a welcoming environment, ensuring that Indigenous traditions and practices remain at the heart of health and healing. \u201cThe new building will create a central home base for all WNHAC programs and services, and will enhance access to culturally relevant, community-driven healthcare for Indigenous people and First Nation communities in the region\u201d, (WNHAC Board President, Charlene Mandamin).<\/span><\/span><\/h3>

On behalf of the Ministry of Health, Greg Rickford made the announcement on January 9, acknowledging the significance of this milestone for the City of Kenora and surrounding communities.<\/span><\/span><\/h3>

Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe\u2019iyewigamig was established in 1998 to provide culturally appropriate, community-based, wholistic health care. Its purpose is to foster healthy Indigenous people, families and communities through traditional and contemporary health care encompassing heart, mind, body, and spirit.<\/span><\/span><\/h3><\/div>
