Waashkootsi Nanaandawe\u2019iyewigamig will be located at Black Sturgeon Lake. With the relocation being such a huge undertaking, the Lodge\u2019s programming will be on hold until the team is fully settled into their new space. We will officially introduce the new site and launch our new programs with an Open House at a later date.\u00a0The Youth Healing Lodge became a WNHAC program in 2002 when Ojibway Tribal Family Services (OTFS) asked WNHAC to assume operations of the program at Longbow Lake, then a residential healing program for Youth between the ages of 16-24. The Longbow Lake location became inhabitable in 2005 and WNHAC renovated the Washagamis Bay site to accommodate the operation of Waashkootsi Nanaandawe\u2019iyewigamig \u2013 an adult Residential Healing Program. Waashkootsi Nanaandawe\u2019iyewigamig has further evolved into Land-Based Day Programming open to all members in the catchment area.\u00a0\u201cWhile we hold fond memories and appreciation for the years spent in Washagamis Bay, we are excited to embark on a new path with Waashkootsi Nanaandawe\u2019iyewigamig at Black Sturgeon and look forward to the growth of our Land-Based programs.\u201d, said WNHAC Board President Charlene Mandamin.Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe\u2019iyewigamig was established in 1998 to provide culturally appropriate, community-based, wholistic health care. Its purpose is to foster healthy Indigenous people, families and communities through traditional and contemporary health care encompassing heart, mind, body, and spirit.Both Waasegiizhig and Waashkootsi continue working together to help the Anishinaaabeg on their healing journeys by providing guidance, direction, love and support for their sacred journeys.
